LCD TV Wall Brackets

LCD TV Wall Brackets are essential if you want to mount an LCD TV to a wall or other surface.

Whilst choosing a brand and model of LCD Television can be daunting, choosing the right LCD TV Wall Bracket is much easier.  Despite the myriad of brands, models and sizes of LCD TV available, there is an international standard so that consumers can be assured that their LCD TV will fit on an LCD TV Wall Bracket from a different manufacturer.

VESA, (The Video Electronics Standards Association) have produced standards so that as long as an LCD TV and LCD TV Wall Bracket conform to the standards, they are compatible. Originally called FPMPMI (Flat Panel Monitor Physical Mounting Interface), the first LCD TV Wall Bracket Standard was introduced in 1997 and was designed for computer monitors.

The first VESA LCD TV Wall Bracket standard was MIS-D (VESA Mounting Interface Standard) and known as just VESA Mount.  This specified that the LCD TV Wall Bracket screw holes should be laid out in a square, with the horizontal and vertical distance from the centre of the screw holes 100mm apart.  This standard is still in use today and one of the most common sizes for LCD TV Wall Brackets.  Additional common LCD TV Wall Bracket sizes include VESA MIS –D 75 75x75, where the distance between the centre of the screw holes is 75mm, VESA MIS-E 200x100mm, MIS-F VESA 200x200mm, MIS-F VESA 600x400mm and MIS-F VESA 800x400mm. Larger LCD TV Wall Brackets are needed to support the size and weight of large screen LCD TVs.  Mounting screws to fit LCD TV Wall Brackets are usually supplied with the LCD TV Wall Brackets rather than the LCD TV.

In addition to the size and location of the mounting, the VESA LCD TV Wall Bracket mounting standard also specifies how the cabling should be. This ensures that an LCD TV mounted on LCD TV wall brackets looks professionally installed and that the cables are not too intrusive.  There is little point in having a discreetly wall mounted LCD TV, and then having the cables dangling down the wall due to a poorly designed LCD Wall Bracket.

LCD TV Wall Brackets are designed to take a certain weight and size of LCD TV, and so it is important to choose the right LCD Wall Bracket for your LCD TV.  The LCD TV weight and screen size should be listed in the specification, and the supplier or the manufacturer website may be able to provide this information.

The LCD TV wall bracket required will depend on the type of installation and whether the LCD television is to be mounted to a wall or other surface.  As well as mounting onto a wall, LCD TV Brackets can be used to mount an LCD TV to a ceiling or to fold away under a cupboard, which can be an ideal scenario in a kitchen or even a bedroom.  Swivel LCD TV wall brackets can be used to hide an LCD TV when it is not in use. Tilting LCD Wall Brackets can be used when the LCD TV has to be installed higher. Motorised LCD TV brackets are available, and can be used for both ceiling and wall mounted LCD Televisions.  Some motorised LCD TV Wall Brackets will rotate an LCD TV by 90 degrees.

In the same way that not all camera manufacturers make tripods, not all LCD TV manufacturers make LCD TV Wall Brackets.  This is why the VESA LCD Wall Bracket Standard is so important.  As both the LCD TV manufacturer and the LCD TV Wall Bracket Manufacturer stick to the same standards you can rest assured that the ceiling mount or the wall bracket will fit your new LCD TV.
